Si Shen Tang

The design of the Lightweight Si Shen Tang gift box incorporates the drawer-style storage concept of traditional Chinese medicine cabinets into a modern gift box format, while applying lightweight and contemporary upgrades. This integration forms the core feature of the design.

The exterior adopts a vertical drawer cabinet form, housing four individual inner boxes, each corresponding to one of the four ingredients: lotus seed, Chinese yam, poria, and fox nut. A cord fastener at the top controls opening and closing. Pulling the cord tight locks the outer box, forming a portable handle. Releasing the cord allows the inner boxes to slide out freely, simulating the motion of a pharmacist retrieving herbs from a medicine cabinet. This design transforms the opening process into an immersive herb-retrieving experience, enhancing product interactivity, sense of ritual, and memorability, while adding emotional warmth to traditional health products.

The visual system uses hand-drawn illustrations to establish a rustic and endearing product character. Specialty paper and embossed texture techniques reinforce the product's material quality through tactile surface layering, achieving an integrated expression of visual aesthetics and tactile experience.

Additionally, the three-in-one design, combining locking, handle, and drawer functions, eliminates the need for a separate shopping bag. This structural approach reduces the use of paper and adhesive, reflecting a lightweight and sustainable design philosophy.
