About The Entry
EKOVI is an original IP created by Dalian Kewei Media. The design is centered on a chibi-style, anthropomorphic Dalian sika deer. Inspired by the deer's agility and vitality, it embeds the city's cultural identity and spirit.
Dalian is the only major city in mainland China with a stable population of wild sika deer within its urban area. The city also carries a strong football legacy. As one of the first cities in China to adopt modern football, the sport has been deeply intertwined with Dalian’s urban identity since its introduction.
The IP uses a coastal blue as its primary color, referencing Dalian’s seaside location and conveying a composed and energetic brand character. Warm gold accents on the antlers and hooves add visual depth and texture. The facial features sharp, expressive eyes and a determined expression, embodying a spirit of resilience and tenacity, directly referencing the competitive ethos and urban character inherited from Dalian’s football culture. Football serves as the core interactive element of the IP, integrating the city’s identity as “Football City” with the regional symbol of the sika deer, forming an emotional link connecting urban ecology, sports, and culture.
Simplified lines, distinctive colors, and highly recognizable features ensure visual consistency and communication effectiveness across various applications, including cultural products, brand promotions, and offline events. Through anthropomorphic motion design, the IP is imbued with a sense of life. It carries the city’s cultural memory while appealing to younger audiences, achieving both cultural continuity and brand communication value. EKOVI thus serves as a living embodiment of Dalian’s urban culture and the brand philosophy of Kewei Media.
