About The Entry
This art installation centers on the imagery of the "window/frame," drawing inspiration from the cultural connotations of windows in Chinese gardens. Through deconstruction and reconstruction in a contemporary context, it explores the relationship between "viewing" and "being viewed." As individuals interpret the world through frames, they themselves are invisibly shaped by those frames. Built from the fragmentation and reassembly of the circle, the work disrupts existing visual orders, metaphorically signaling the loosening and reconfiguration of boundaries between Eastern and Western cultures. Composed of minimalist modular units, it establishes a logic of growth that evolves from "window" to "seed," extending further into the gestation, evolution, and flourishing of consciousness. The result is a cognitive system where each element stands independent yet remains intrinsically connected.
In its spatial presentation, the installation unfolds across multiple dimensions through various configurations: converging into a centralized, radiating form that heightens visual tension, or extending into a continuously flowing curved structure that invites viewers to perceive shifts in rhythm and order as they move. In the interplay of traversing and gazing, viewers engage in a reconstruction of both space and self-perception, rendering the installation a medium for thought—one that is meant to be experienced.
In terms of materials, the main structure is crafted from sustainable wooden frames, recycled cotton and linen threads, retaining the tactile quality of hand weaving while striking a visual balance between warmth and rationality. The lightweight, detachable structural logic allows for flexible assembly and recyclability, enhancing spatial adaptability and aligning artistic expression with sustainable principles.
