Xinchang Little Cobbler 1988 Hotel

This project seeks to reimagine a "time-infused vintage hospitality space" within the contemporary urban context. Eschewing superficial nostalgia and excessive ornamentation, the design cultivates a quiet beauty born of temporal accumulation through the intrinsic logic of materials, lighting, color palettes, and spatial arrangements. The space seamlessly blends the relaxed ethos of mid-century vintage aesthetics with the rational order of contemporary art; it retains the warmth of an artisanal workshop while delivering the refinement, comfort, and functional efficiency expected of a boutique hotel.

The design is deeply inspired by the "cobbler’s spirit." The true allure of fine leather lies not in its pristine, flawless condition when new, but in the patina, texture, and marks left by years of use. The designers envisioned the hotel to possess this same sense of organic growth. Grounded in warm timber, deep-toned walls, and beige-taupe textures, the space is articulated by dark structural lines, paper lanterns, and vintage furnishings, weaving together a restrained yet rich aesthetic hierarchy. Rather than a space artificially distressed, it reads like a handcrafted object refined through meticulous polishing—understated, grounded, and imbued with a tangible warmth.
