Today, most manufacturing traceability still relies on batch records and fragmented production databases. Once a product leaves the factory, it can be difficult to trace exactly how that individual unit was made and what happened during production.

Chung Hua Plastic developed the Parameter-Bound Digital Product Passport to change this. Each product is given a unique digital identity directly linked to the actual manufacturing data created during production, including material information, machine conditions, process parameters, inspection results, operator activities, and production history.

We chose to start with plastic components for a reason. They are among the most common products in everyday life and are manufactured in enormous volumes. Because individual parts are often low in cost, detailed unit-level records have rarely been practical. But their scale and complexity are exactly why we believe they matter. The future of digital manufacturing should not be limited to high-value products.

The platform is already generating more than 300,000 Digital Product Passports each month. But this is only the beginning. As more product lines are connected and millions of unit-level records accumulate, this trusted data foundation can enable AI systems to identify patterns, predict quality risks, improve processes, and support better manufacturing decisions.

The same digital identity can eventually follow a product beyond the factory, supporting compliance, maintenance, repair, reuse, recycling, and other lifecycle applications.

The idea is simple: every physical product should have its own digital history.
