SUNING PLAZA

The site is located in the heart of Xiang'an New District, Xiamen, facing the Central Park and is adjacent to the city's cultural and art facilities. The project aims to create a "Paradise Island" which is in harmony with nature and rich in Xiamen’s life style, thus leading the development of Xiang'an New District as Xiamen's future Growth Pole.

In the overall planning, we introduce the water system into the site through the integrated design of the landscape around the lake. The shopping center facing the lake is equipped with layers of retreating terrace and a continuous walking path from the ground to the roof, making full use of the lake view to form a multi-level interactive space both between indoors and outdoors. Meanwhile, by exploring Xiamen’s city culture and combining it with Suning Enterprise Features, we designed a series of public spaces such as traditional Chinese market, aquarium, science corridor, lake-view restaurant, Sky Square and Water-Mist Square to improve consumer experience. Moreover, by shaping the three core spaces, namely the Xingyun Square, Waterfall Courtyard and Walk-in Flower Sea, the project connects AMTR Line 3 and Line 5 and bus stations to the shopping center to enhance the interchange experience as well as introduce larger inflow of people, creating an integrated TOD hub between the traffic stations and the city.

Xiamen Suning Plaza is not only a regional shopping center, but also a leisure destination for general public in Xiamen and a new landmark as an Internet celebrity to improve the quality of urban public space.
