2022 PING TUNG Festival of Lights(Min Park, Pingtung City)

Pingtung’s Min Park was formerly known as Pingtung Sugar Factory and Pingtung Pulp Factory. The glory of Taiwan Sugar became the past with Taiwan's economic development, but the life of the sugar factory is a beautiful memory deeply branded in psychology. After the passage of time and in the process of cleaning up the Sha-she Creek, the ruins of the Taiwan Sugar Pulp Factory were accidentally dug up. This discovery is both a surprise and a gift, as if it is necessary, before rebirth, to examine the contours of the past to be able to move towards a more distant future. The field that carries history and the memory of life will be translated and re-entered into everyone's life in a modern way after planning.

Therefore, this plan will slowly tell the prosperous past of this area with "light", and reinterpret this area, which is full of emotional accumulation, in combination with modern methods. The overall lighting area covers an area of about 60,000 square meters, creating 14 sets of lights and lighting sceneries that are deeply integrated with the landscape. They form an art festival of lighting and establish a unique style of lighting festival activities belonging to the Min Park.

Artists from many fields are invited to participate together and there are more than 8 artists and art teams. With the most professional technology and delicate construction methods, they create a large-scale light and shadow art festival in the field connecting the ancient and the modern, and jointly stimulate the imagination of "light, shadow, sugar, and paper". The lighting art intertwines with the texture of history, witnessing the transformation of the pulp factory. Looking back at the brilliant glory of Pingtung as a “Sugar Capital”, now a new urban image transformation is shown.
