About The Entry

In a dense and typically gray city, perceived as a sea of concrete, the project for the outdoor area of the Manhattan shopping mall offers green and life as it humanizes and enhances the building by proposing a new, healthier, better integrated way of interacting with both the indoors and the outdoors.

As it is a region of tall buildings and almost no green areas, Águas Claras is the perfect setting for the implementation of an innovative experience focused on residents, users and visitors relation to open spaces. The combined use of landscaping and lighting made a qualitative and innovative transformation possible. One that can be perceived equally during the daytime or the nighttime.

As a solution to the over-densification that prevents the green from spreading, we created a vertical park, inhabited by plant species with a special ability to renew the air. We used ventilated facade technology for the mall by inserting an air cushion between the building structure and the cladding, reducing thermal wear and increasing the efficiency of air conditioners. This practice is also a faster and more dynamic option for the construction phase.

Lighting is a striking feature of the project. It emphasizes the humanized texture of the vertical gardens, in addition to permeating in an orderly and coordinated way the living areas and promoting safe interaction between vehicles and pedestrians. The design of the illuminated windows goes back to the more traditional and cozy areas of historic cities, without losing the character of novelty. This is achieved by breaking standards and highlighting the building itself with the same hierarchy that Brasília's urbanism usually grants only to monuments.
