Century One Mile

Century One Mile is located in Gumeibei Community, Minhang District, Shanghai. As Shanghai's first ultra-low energy residential project, it introduces a new green idea to the city, resulting in lower energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, and a better living experience via the use of passive, active, renewable energy, and other energy-saving technology. The residence's facade design aims to strike a compromise between high quality and low cost. The futuristic superfluid facade draws attention to the new era, distinguishes itself from comparable goods already on the market, and embodies the notion of western technology in the domestic product force as well as the modern living spirit founded in Oriental humanities. The visual fashion and material quality represent the feeling of commercial worth of the facade. The line pattern on the facade is an abstract translation of the merging of old Shanghai's classical curves in stone arch doorways with new Shanghai's current high technology. The lines' joints are filled, resulting in a more elegant overall volume and a gentler interface with the surrounding environment. Glass and metal profiles, the fusion of stone imitation coating texture, off-white and multi-level grey color contrast, rich details, paint coating selected for high water resistance, fracture resistance, weather resistance, and pollution resistance. The three types of exterior thermal insulation systems should be modular in 13 high-rise houses by optimizing the envelope structure. This considerably increases the thermal insulation performance and construction operability of the building. The design of the community complex stacking multiple transparent boxes to encourage inhabitants of the neighbouring villages to meet together, taking into account the various functions suited for people of all ages and enriching the inside space as much as possible. The facade design follows the same gentle curve as the apartment units, creating a distinct community complex.
