CRCC Flower Language Mansion, Taiyuan

The project is located in Shanxi Province, northern China where minority ethnic groups gathered historically, with a strong regional character. As the tradition of mercantilism in the past and the prosperous local economy, its cultural characteristic focuses on both trade and culture. Therefore, the design aims to show it through architectural and even conceptual artistic spatial vocabularies and innovative detail expressions, and to bring new sensory and emotional experiences to users. Poetic design is the complement and balance of power, which depends on space emotion, cultural empathy, narrative, etc., but in fact power itself is enough to bring poetry, or poetry also exists in power.

Traditional culture and natural landscape are expressed in a worldwide language. The design tries to highlight the poetic architecture and its unique cultural context. All elements applied in are derived from the past; however, they are transformed into new expressions without the shackles of tradition, thus linking the future. The green glass installation is drawn from the memory of the tiles on the roof of ancient ancestral hall. Every tile in the past had a random quality, texture, label and number, while now they are transformed into a new metaphor with the current industrial technology. The space’s acclimation of light makes the sheltered space dramatic, and residents walking through as if experiencing a game.

Nearly 35 tons of flexible cornices at the main entrance have been repeatedly demonstrated to ensure a light and thin look.

1389 pieces of dark green glass tiles have been made samples and fired for nearly 20 times.

The atrium hyperbolic cantilever structure is complex, forming a BIM model collaborative work process, and creating a collaborative work digital information platform including conceptual design, deepening design, steel structure deepening design and decorative aluminum plate deepening design.

The customized waterscape details have been made samples and constructed repeatedly.
