ocean poetic dwelling

The Ocean Poetic Dwelling Project is located at the foot of Xishan Mountain in Haidian District, Beijing, covering an area of 16,000 square meters. The project fully respects the original memory and local culture of the site from the utilization of the native landform to the construction of the cultural landscape, as if a landscape quietly growing in the native environment.



Local Culture Presentation

We excavate the culture of the site and refine the cultural symbols of the Xishan Temple Garden, and integrates them into the landscape through the design of the sculptures, landscape architecture and landscape elements, such as landscape vignettes and paving. The Ocean Poetic Dwelling Project presents Xishan culture to the public in the form of modern landscape and becomes a cultural symbol in the area, an innovation of combining historical culture with modern landscape.



Respect the current situation of the site:

The original site has a great difference in height from east to west, the design respects the site characteristics and piles up hills along the trend to form a natural mountain valley forest spring landscape. It also makes use of the open-close edge canopy line to bring the distant Xishan scenery into the garden.



Vertical Tour Experience

Using the characteristic height difference of the current situation for a richer vertical design, we create a double-layered movement line, the lower layer of the road winding, to restore the original ecological mountain path; the upper layer to build a wooden path through the bamboo forest, through different perspective to give people a different touring experience.



Ecological Sustainability

The design preserves the original water body and improves the water quality through ecological measures such as ecological grass slope and aquatic plants; local plant species are chosen to create a stable community structure and create a sense of quiet mountain forest. The use of the site's original mountain stones roughly processed and paved garden paths and platforms over 100 square meters, to achieve the reuse of resources.
