Castle in the Sky

Firstly, the investor hoped that this space could become a unique and pure space. Secondly, the investor needed a stage and a terrace in terms of functional requirements. Thirdly, they could place more tables and chairs in the limited space on the ground.

The design inspiration for the hall comes from the "Castle in the Sky" written by Japanese writer Miyazaki. Based on the three requirements put forward by the investors, the designer decided to suspend the original terrace on the ground into the air to increase the ground area. The second idea was to build the stage into a multi-level sky castle to match the suspended terrace. The overall color is white, which is to support the pure style, and then the color Tiffany blue is added with lights and linear light strips, which is to add a more ethereal visual expression to this pure space.

During the design process, it was found that the mechanical structure required to solve the suspended terrace was relatively complex. This problem was solved through accurate calculation and optimization of the weight of the material itself. Later, it was found that the multi-point hoisting connection method could solve the weight problem. But a curved structure with a length of 30 meters, when many people go up there, the structure will shake due to resonance. So the designer set up a fixed riveting device at the connection between the two ends of the structure to solve the problem of shaking . When everything was designed, the designer suddenly found that if the terrace could be raised and lowered, it would have more variability in visual effects, and it could solve the problem of the guest space being suppressed under the structure. Therefore, a liftable hoisting machine was finally installed to ensure the realization of this effect.

The space uses 360-degree comprehensive landscaping, a 12-meter floor height and the design of a castle in the sky has become a unique and the first example in this field in China.
