Knitted with Affluence

Time flies like an arrow, and the environment around us constantly changes. For individuals, it is inevitable to feel a sense of loss or melancholy when we experience such conversion in life. Located in Dadaocheng, a beautiful northern Taiwan town famous for its luxurious fabrics, this project is full of surprising elements. The design team cleverly uses the coexistence of the old and the new to preserve the ancient architectural features of the renowned textile industry in the area and combine them with modern aesthetics to create a magnificent feast. Light-transmitting glass is used as the material for the windows and partitions, thus incorporating the splendor of Dadaocheng into the space. The aesthetic concept of textiles is extracted and carried through to the living area in the form of art, showing the spark of creative power and humanity. Along the welcoming avenue of the water corridor towards the interior lobby, the silk-like marble tiles are laid on the floor, and the installation artworks are woven with copper wires, perfectly interpreting the century-old history of the textile industry in the area. The watery texture of the ceiling echoes the watery feeling of the building's exterior and delivers a sense of dynamism. At the winding spiral staircase, greenery chandeliers drop from the ceiling in a patio style, decorating the staircase like works of art. Moving slowly inward, one will notice that the chandeliers, like spindles and ripples of water drops, hang from the ceiling of the central sitting area and are illuminated by light sources to create a crystal-clear beauty. On the other hand, the darker colors are used to adjust the focus of the space. The latticework walls, which extend to the sides as if they were decorated with silver leaf, are incorporated with indirect lighting to create a glittering and gilded quality. Inside, the private meeting room features a thick white marble table with a dark single-seat sofa, conveying a calm and dignified spatial character. The linear construction of the lighting reflects the imagery of the architectural structure, manifesting the function and meaning of the place.
