The Chaise Longue Economy Seat is a new Economy Class seat concept aimed to improve the passenger comfort and flight experience for long haul flights. The biggest change is the introduction of a double decker design, which optimises the space inside the airplane cabin, providing more comfortable and sustainable travel to Economy Class passengers.

By removing the overhead storage compartments of the central row of widebody/twin-aisle aircraft (the ones used for long-haul flights), and by relocating these storage compartments underneath the seats, the design provides numerous advantages. Without reducing the seat-pitch (distance between a specific point of one seat, and the same exact point of the seat behind), the Chaise Longue has better leg room, easier accessibility and more posture variation. The two rows also have some unique characteristics to them:

On one hand, the lower row is perfect for individuals with reduced mobility or for resting on long flights. The seat pan hides all the way into the structure for easier ingress and egress, and the backrest reaches an angle of 125 degrees (15 degrees more than the current economy class). Most importantly, the passengers can fully stretch out their legs, and support them, similar to a lie down position. On the other hand, to access the upper row you will have to go up 2 steps. Providing the same 125 degree recline angle, this row gives passengers better leg room and more privacy.

The Chaise Longue seat concept has been designed to fit on to the anchoring rail tracks in current aircraft, the modular structure can easily fit through the doors, creating minimal disruption, also avoiding any major changes to the layout of the cabin or to the structures within the aircraft.

In a fast paced and changing world, the Economy Class seat has seen minimal changes or improvements over the years (other than larger and better quality Inflight Entertainment Systems). It is now finally time to disrupt it with the Chaise Longue Economy Seat and enhance passenger experience and comfort. Welcome to the future of flying.
