Meta City

Meta City is a residential community located in the center of Putuo District, Shanghai, only 200 meters away from Shanghai West Railway Station. Architects use simple modernist design vocabulary, creating a unique and innovative TOD community for Shanghai and the project would be fully constructed by the end of August 2022.



Architects design a modern urban interface by staggering the upper and lower floors and vertical zoning, they get rid of the single and trivial building facade, weaken the rigidity and singleness of the housing itself, and re-energize the building. At the same time, the details are processed, and the shape is further strengthened through the lines with strong sense of sequence and the relationship between virtual and real. From a distance, people can see the fireworks and wind emotion, and from a close view, they can see the delicacy and details.



The residential facade uses deep, light grey and champagne gold aluminum plates, coupled with high permeability glass, which breaks the shackles brought by traditional concrete buildings, forming an unbounded flowing space, coupled with tall and straight vertical aluminum plates. The flow reveals firmness, implying the vigorous and upward development of surrounding region. The smoothness of glass and the geometric lines of aluminum plate express the rhythm of structure between light and shadow, elegant and flexible.



Besides, residential buildings adopt prefabricated energy-saving technology, which has lower energy consumption, less carbon emissions and better living experience. Meta City will become the first ultra-low energy consumption residential area in Putuo District.
