RURAL REVITALIZATION OF LOTUS CAVE VILLAGE

The village of Lotus Cave is in decline and reorganization, where the clan governance gives way to administrative governance, and the ancestral house loses its role of governance. Coupled with the intergenerational population increase, the property rights space of the ancestral house has been fragmented to loss of its function. After its initial decay, the entire village then presented collapse of the space ethics.



This renovation selects the dilapidated ancestral house as the backbone building to revitalize the architecture and the environment spatially. The public function of the ancestral house space is recreated, continuing to operate with the art content of high involvement that the villagers can enjoy. In this way, the new space ethics is reconstructed and reborn.



UDG Deep Design Studio cooperated with Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Chongqing Sculpture Society, and Qitang Town Government to develop a total of 8 architectural projects including rural museum, art gallery, library, research institutes, and 2 environment projects of outdoor theater and rice field art museum in the Lotus Cave Art Village. There are ten themed core art areas in total that will realize the symbiosis of "countryside intervened with art, art achieved in the countryside".
