Walk into Hogwarts

The client is a couple who loves the Harry Potter series of novels. They expect the design team to express the imagery of the wizarding world in the interior design. To do so, the design team recalled the movie scenes, such as Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and the dome of Hogwarts restaurant, and restored and reproduced them in the space. In addition, the design team also planned the lighting through the arrangement of flat and concave surfaces to interpret the magic but a realistic residence. In contrast to the contemporary residential style, the clients proposed to create a Harry Potter-themed space with an industrial style. Therefore, the core of the project was to integrate the gritty industrial style with the fantasy world of magic. The design team searched for texts and film clips to capture the architectural style of Hogwarts. They translated the film's dome into the living room ceiling and TV wall, then conceal light strips to create visual depth and suspension. As for the wall, it is quoted from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. The design team used cultural stones to create a classical and retro atmosphere. In addition, they concealed the bathroom door panel to maintain consistency. Furthermore, to provide ample space for the cat, the design team added laminates and cat caves on the living room TV wall and cabinets.
