Central China Xiaoguishan Financial & Cultural Park

Located in central China, Wuhan is also an industrial town with a long urban history and strong economic development. In the new century, Wuhan is in the process of reshaping its industrial structure and transforming its economic growth, with new industries and new business models filling the city with innovative vitality. As a result, Wuchang District has proposed the development strategy of "City of Finance" and is committed to building a modern financial services ecosystem. This is the source of the project's positioning. The project site used to be the Hubei Electric Construction Company, which developed into a powerful production base in the 1970s. But now, this former industrial base gradually fell into despair, leaving the dilapidated brick factory buildings and old industrial facilities. These legacy industrial elements shape the site with a strong sense of history and provide a rich source of inspiration for artistic re-creation. On the other hand, the project site is located on the slope of Xiaoguishan, an important mountain in the central area of Wuchang, with a peak height of about 63.8m. With long periods of human intervention such as reclamation and factory construction, the original mountain has largely disappeared, leaving a broken and disorganised green area. A huge height difference has formed within the site, with a local maximum height difference of 21.5m. It is a place full of stories and contradictions. As the future Xiaoguishan Financial Cultural Park in Central China, we need to find a new direction for it to “LIVE”.



In line with the city's development strategy and based on the current situation of the site, our designers have combined urban industrial regeneration and industrial heritage preservation to create a new park for the modern financial industry on the site of the former electric construction. The overall framework of the landscape is based on "two axes, three hearts and multiple nodes", forming a "financial theme axis and an ecological landscape axis", with "Culture Square, Gantry Showground and Xiaoguishan Forest Park" as the heart, connecting the south and north entrance square, office garden and other node spaces.
