Grand Hyatt Nashville

This 24 story, 591 guest room gleaming tower that welcomes visitors to downtown Nashville was designed to be just that. The outlines of the façade greet you with whatever color is chosen for that night. Originally, multiple fins of the façade were to be illuminated and after multiple pricing exercises and studies, the single perimeter glow was selected. The streetscape, at a more human scale, introduced luminous vertical panels the height of each column around the building and were backlit with 2400°K linear extrusions. Warm-dim recessed adjustable accents in the building soffit were used to provide the soft glow at the sidewalks. Three floors of banquet space behind dark windows jutted out from the façade corner, the outer frame of which was surrounded by linear extrusions lighting back onto the façade to create a floating effect. Narrow-beam 180° optic sill-mounted fixtures created depth and interest at the remaining window frames on the south and east facades. The backlit vertical column panels continued at the 5th floor pool deck, tying the street-level aesthetic to the upper levels.
