The Costume Institute is looking to branch out into a museum space to display its archive and temporary exhibition. The Museum of Fashion Design & Technology is to celebrate the history of American fashion and support the fashion industry in NYC by combining the local heritage, culture, and craftsmanship into NYC’s urban fabric.

Feature with museum galleries, textile center, entertainment tank, and studio tower, museum-goers walking through three distinct experiences in the museum: history, innovation, and creation. Inspired by the past, experimenting now, and expressing creativity for the future.

The footprint inside the MFDT can be described as the thread that sews the cloth pattern together as the guests walk through the galleries and space clustered in the IRT powerhouse city block.

MFDT is a vision that sews history, culture, nature, and the next generation’s creativity together as a one-block walk-through journey landmark on the west side of New York City.
