This ¨Zalea¨ garment piece results from conscious and soulful creation towards an unexpected development. In 2021, I started to hand sew bits and pieces of fabric I have been collecting for over four and a half years; after that, I developed an oversized and loose jacket silhouette. The piece searches to create graphic patterns through textures, volumes, and movement without a previously set design. The process turned out to be relaxing, a form of catharsis, and a way of anxiety relief, and it reminded me how much I enjoyed this craft.

I am grateful to start over again through these new fabrics that people have donated to me and that I have recycled or salvaged. I think that crafting this jacket is a way to honor them.

My focus on this project is to create pieces that consciously use resources, a limited production manufacturing garments full of detail and dedication, making every one of them truly one of a kind.
