Wanzhou Social Public Culture and Education Center

Wanzhou, where the project is located, with a good reputation of "rivers converging, merchants gathering", has a history of urban construction of more than 1800 years. Now, the "rivers converging, merchants gathering" is taken as the design vision of the School of Social Science and Educational Culture Center in the new era, thus conducting an overall arrangement on the ancient spirit of landscape in Bayu (Chongqing) and humanistic feelings, and building a new window of symbolic and inherited urban culture. On a large scale, the landscape pattern and idea of "advantageous terrain" of Wanzhou Old City is continued for the overall design, preserving several urban axes in the base address, separating the architectural groups from the old city settlement by the river, and creating the urban axis of the combination of humanity and nature. On a meso-scale, during the design and planning, a curved and open architectural interface towards the waterfront interface is established. The multi-group architectural massing extends the sight for river view to the square in the site, and connects the ecological corridor with the urban greenway system. On a small scale, the canyon around is taken as inspiration for the architectural design to shape the building, so as to echo the Three Gorges culture; The functional structure of small size and multiple groups is adopted to satisfy the requirement of separating the education and the activity, corridors are connected between groups to ensure the fluent transportation, and a new urban humanistic landscape is build with the external form of freedom.
