“Hot Spring Realm”Art Installation

The root of all things, with water as the source. The art installation " Hot Springs Realm" is located on the Bright Moon Mountain in Yichun city, the hometown of hot springs in China，on the second floor of the sales center of the Poly Group Mingyuechuan project. The naming and design of the installation echoes the local historic Site - hot springs and Zen culture, using the traditional craftsmanship in ancient China - colored glaze as an artistic medium, interpreting cleanliness and clarity, and integrating with the local nature and humanities.

The overall shape is based on the array elements used in many places in architectural design and interior design, combined with the design of the sloping roof in the model area. It is composed of 752 glass bottles, each of which is hand-fired, 6.88 meters long, 4.63 meters wide, 1.6 meters high, and weighs 1.1 tons. The shape decreases along the ceiling, forming a sense of array and volume, simple and powerful. We scrutinized the visual experience of the installation from all angles, including the height, number, spacing, layers, color gradient, etc. of the glass bottles, to create a modern and romantic art installation, which can even be visually interesting when observed from a specific perspective to create an optical illusion.

Blue color was used to express the theme of hot springs, meaning "Hot Springs Entry", creating a clear and clean "Zen" environment. The glass bottle is composed of 5 blue colors and transparent color, which gradually change from the dark blue in the center to the transparent colors around it. The soft blue is like a hot spring, which is quiet and relaxing, with a subtle and warm effect. Some glass bottles are set with internal lighting, which gradually diffuses from the center, making the whole more richer in layers and illuminate the model in the center. At night, the surrounding lights source transmits from the glass bottle to illuminate the entire interior space, making the installation and space perfectly integrated and closer to people, highlighting the oriental artistic aesthetics.
