Client's Name

Parkview Green

Country / Region

Hong Kong SAR

The brand aspires to make its restaurant a place of fine dining and a piece of art. It chose its new venue in Beijing’s landmark Parkview Green, a modern architecture renowned as a hub for innovative thinking.

In response to the client’s philosophy, the design focuses on building an environment of high aesthetic value where visitors enjoy not only savory but also visual pleasure. The use of modern techniques and materials provides a novel representation of traditional Japanese and Chinese architectural philosophies.

Japanese Karesansui landscape is the main concept behind the feature wall at the shopfront and the ceiling design of the dining hall. Prominent mages of dynamic water and bamboo trees stage their appearance in form of modern metals instead of conventional stones and sand.

To present its Japanese identity in a Chinese city, the interior layout adopts the Chinese classic Siheyuan concept of a balanced structure. A spacious atrium as the main dining hall is surrounded by private rooms on its south, east, north, and west. The ceiling design is a Chinese courtyard with a pond of fish. Represented in the Karesansui technique and modern metals, it is an eye-catching art in the restaurant.

The private rooms are decorated in a natural earthy tone with images of Chinese blossoms and auspicious cranes to represent the liveliness of nature. Conveniently located next to the main entrance, visitors can have quick access without crossing other dining areas.

Corridors instead of solid walls are used to separate dining spaces for different gathering purposes. Translucent glass screens in bamboo motifs provide privacy while maintaining visual comfort.

In the rear part are two open kitchens which serve signature Robatayaki and Teppanyaki cuisines. As an area for carefree chats, solid sliding panels are in place to serve as a soundproof device when necessary.
