Integrating Nature, Art, and Culture in Foshan, redefining Active Sustainable Living
One Sanlong Bay is a 9-hectare high-end mixed-use development in Foshan along the Dong Ping River. This exemplary project represents the commitment to creating a socially and environmentally sustainable ecosystem, redefining how future integrated developments are designed. Inspired by the culture of the Foshan, the landscape draws on the natural beauty of the region and its history to tell a new story employing contemporary nature-based design, one that considers livability, lifestyle, and sustainability as a social priority.
‘Living by the Water’ is one of the design’s driving concepts. It is inspired by Southern China’s regional Lingnan culture that combines east and west ideas of spaces, architecture, and water; additionally, a series of Song Dynasty water drawings inspire the design’s balance between people, landscape, and their relationships with water. The design uses these ideas to create a harmonious composition of open spaces, garden landscapes, and water programs.
The project comprises residential towers, villas, two commercial towers, and a multi-level retail mall. The development’s expansive green podium creates opportunities to utilize green connective landscape to unify the diverse functions and programmatic spaces, creating a holistic landscape. The commercial component is designed to express a green urban valley activated by the carefully curated retail mix of commercial, and food and beverage establishments. Local planting and landscape link and vertically integrate the spaces at ground level and second level. This vibrant blending of spaces and programs creates works that sustain the vitality of living, working
and leisure activities.
Integral to the beauty of the landscape is its commitment to social sustainability and innovative sustainable technologies. Our goal is to maximize intergenerational interaction and shared community experiences through thoughtfully designed landscapes. Water management, energy efficiency, locally sourced materials, and plant ecologies are embedded into these detailed strategies. These strategies define the landscape, spatial organization, and design forms, creating a sustainable community.
This project promotes a sustainable future for Foshan and the Greater Bay Area by integrating nature, art, and culture.
