In the retail space, the holiday season ramps up right in the middle of October, almost taking over for Halloween, but blends Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza together. For many, the changing décor of your favorite big box store or the unique holiday offerings at your favorite restaurant signal that it is time to celebrate the holidays. For McDonald’s U.S., the unveiling of the 2022 holiday hot cup design is an opportunity for connection with loyal customers while they warm up with a delicious McCafé beverage during the cold winter months.
Incorporating graphic elements from McDonald’s larger Szn of Sharing campaign combined with strong knowledge of the customers and the competition, we were able to create a collection of six exciting designs that bring holiday magic to life. McCafé’s iconic gold color worked as the perfect canvas to mix different mid-century modern elements and play with repetition. Using colors like light blue, forest green, snowflake white and McDonald’s red, we topped everything off with a brown lid and logo color to reinforce McDonald’s coffee credentials. The design featured on the cups was also used to created limited edition wrapping paper for the employees at McDonald’s Corporate Headquarters.
By offering McCafé with a splash of seasonal cheer, we gave millions a hefty pour of winter delight.
