Shenyang Girl

Our client wanted to create a internet celebrity landmark and turn it into a large youth education complex while preserving the original industrial heritage— the Shenyang Spring Factory. So the design had to meet the characteristics of youth being energetic, sunny and positive, as well as having a trendy artistic tone.

Shenyang Girl (also known as Lollipop Girl) with an overall height of 16 meters, is currently the largest basso-relievo and urban sculpture in China, and the most popular urban landmark in Shenyang. A positive, cheerful girl comes across the old industrial building made by cold steel and concrete. Different colors on the sculpture represent the fusion of multi-ethnic cultures in the city. The round and colorful lollipop brings rich colors and warmth to the cold old building, also brings a taste of sweetness to people around it.

The sculpture has received great attention from the media even from the beginning of construction. When it was constructed, it was reported by mainstream media, Xinhua News Agency, Tencent News, Netease News, and social media like Xiaohongshu and Instagram. It has become one of the top ten must-see attractions in Shenyang. The name, Shenyang girl, was selected by the vote of netizens.
