Julia Peng Living Room Dreaming

First time listening to , we were so amazed by the special cozy vibe the album delivered, which made us also decide immediately to use some psychedelic elements for the visual effects that are rarely seen in Hakka albums. We want to create the most relaxing and comfortable state, to feel the flow of the consciousness in the dream.

Before we started the design, we simulated the process of going home, stepping into the living room, and finally sneaking into the dreamland. Using "living room" as the division between inside and outside, we explored the changes in people's mind from the external environment to the internal world.

For the packaging, we tried to materialize the concept of "Coming home, it is a place without any burden and you can truly relax". The cover design is inspired by socks, on the interwoven embossing white fabric there are printed foam material mimics the threaded texture of cloth, also comes with a standard woven label sewn on. Opening the cover makes it feel like coming back home in the living room, taking off the socks also means that we are getting rid of the restraint from the external dressing, so we can have a comfy and laid-back environment to have some daydreaming in the living room.

The standard characters are handwritten by Julia Peng’s daughter, the childlike strokes add an impression of freedom to its design. The lyrics are presented in small individual cards and the whole piece is printed on large paper with soft and psychedelic gradients. By transforming the objects from the lyrics into silhouettes, and then divide and stack them into the CD box, it presents an image of the lyrics card are like floating in the dreamland of music.
