Baoneng Centre

Sungang district is situated within Shenzhen, China’s economic and technological citadel; as the former logistics distribution hub, it is in the process of transitioning between tradition and innovation. The project reflects and accelerates this transition by adopting innovative and sustainable dimensions for Baoneng Centre, injecting vibrancy to create one of the largest mixed-use developments to serve the district.

With a total area of 800,000 square meters, the prismatic complex comprises a 300m tall Grade-A office tower, a 25-storey apartment tower, and an 11-storey podium. The 350,000 square meters of commercial podium consists of Baoneng Global and Baoneng First Space to house a shopping mall and an exhibition space. The development revitalises the area by increasing commercial activities. The construction of affordable luxury home life as the core, and exhibitions and conferences as the link, will build a world home furnishing cultural experience center positioned as a "global benchmark city" in Shenzhen.

The main challenge is integrating the 447-meter-long, 11-story Giant into this district. Named as "The Vibrant Jewelry Box," the structure takes on the form of horizontally stacked and staggered bars and is embellished with distinct textures on the façade. The complex is unified by concave-convex spaces that grant an oppressing visual sensation while the stacked bars create visible breaks on the structure.
