About The Entry

The 4-star Hotel Seidenhof in the centre of Zurich has 78 rooms, the redesign of which is inspired by the 1920s. The building steeped in tradition features a boutique hotel, integrated bar and a restaurant, as well as a listed art nouveau façade.

The lighting design, with its stylistic luminaire shapes, transports the rooms into a contemporary memory of the "Golden Twenties".

In the foyer, the soft light of the iconographic globes is supported by low glare downlights. An integrated light line, brightens up the work surface of the reception. The custom-made carpet in the corridors is staged with targeted lighting. Backlit numbers point the way.

The exclusively designed silk wallpapers in the rooms are staged with special wallwashers that eliminate glare for guests in bed. The style-defining ball lights next to the beds were supplemented with functional gooseneck reading lights in black for the guests' reading comfort.

The lighting design of the room steps provides a dramatic flair, an aesthetic that is continued with the integration of light in the shelves of the custom-made wardrobes.

The integrated Enja restaurant has an open gastro kitchen, which is tied together with the guest area via a soft ceiling light, from a partially curved plaster channel.

The warmth of this indirect light was precisely adjusted to the surfaces of the interior design using CCT foils. Targeted islands of light accentuate the tables and create relaxed intimacy.

The lighting technology was implemented with LEDs, which were subject to particularly high requirements in terms of maintenance and colour rendering.

In order to keep future maintenance costs very low, great importance was attached to simple and easy replacement of the light sources during the planning phase. The majority of the lamps were installed as "replacements". This also applies to the "technical luminaires", such as downlights.
