Office of the People's Counsel

The Office of the People’s Counsel is a governmental organization that advocates for consumer rights and provides legal counsel regarding utilities. Moya Design Partners’ Interior Design team designed the tenant interiors of OPC’s new office, transforming the space into a 20,000 SF modern office with open spaces. One of the main objectives was to design an empowering office for the staff and a welcoming space where visitors feel at ease while getting advice.

The space is organized around a central reception focused on users and visitors; the conference room, small lounges, and collaborative areas speak to the communicative nature of the OPC and offer flexibility and options for meetings with users or with staff. The phone boots and reception area create an oasis in the middle of the office with a custom-made environmental Graphic Design that brings DC and its colorful streets and houses to the walls; reminding users that the OPC is here to serve the citizens of the District of Columbia.

Part of the client's DNA is believing in the power of transformation, which is why the new office adapts to their current needs and welcomes future trends. We materialized a bold and innovative project, harmonizing each environment with its specific function and ensuring durability and versatility to extend the design lifecycle.

Comfort and sustainability were priorities: the building offers better air quality for the occupants, carefully planned lightning, and highly efficient electrical systems. The result was a well-lit space, covered in soft colors and collaborative, where all the necessary infrastructure -HVA, Electrical, data systems- for the company's operation fit into the building without detracting from its architecture.

Our goal was to keep the teams together in open workspaces, transparent private offices fronts, and with spaces for small events that would encourage gatherings and interactions, bringing the most diverse experiences, whether in moments of focus or collaborative work, bringing into the work environment the diversity of ideas and agility to solve problems daily.
