Nightscape Lighting Design of Sign Tower in Taihu Tunnel

The project’s marker tower, with dimensions of 45 meters in diameter, 39 meters in height, and 5228 square meters for construction and installation, is situated in the second section of the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, south of Suzhou, Wuxi, and Changzhou.

When lit up at night, the tower’s logo resembles a passionate night elf. During the day, it resembles a tranquil snail girl reading in a field. With 174,000 LED pixel lights that create unlimited light and trigger a spiral red streamer, the city’s history is illuminated in a vibrant light show. From the top of the tower, a brilliant beam of light pierces the darkness, serving as a beacon to lead travelers farther away. In order to establish a visual contrast and space transformation with the outer streamers, which shape the inner and outer sides of the logo tower, casting lighting is used in conjunction with the inner steel frame to create a subdued, plain, and solid backdrop light. Its upbeat and vivacious personality blends well with the still lake surface.

The lovely curve resonates with the surroundings by using a control system to modify light and shade in accordance with changes in environmental light to create an overall dynamic change. It has diverse traits depending on the time of day, allowing it to conduct various tasks during significant holidays in addition to addressing daily energy-saving requirements. The standard mode is “Dancing China,” with red ribbons floating upward; the festival mode is “Water Fleur,” “Flying Dragon,” and “Votive Meteor.” Several theme changes, such as “landscape interdependent,” “young music,” and “hovering flower fire” are incorporated in the interpretation of the light display, creating a surreal image of the border between truth and illusion.

Using the reflection to realize the sublimation of the night view once the symbol tower and Taihu Lake have been joined. The lake is illuminated by the biyu snail’s light, and the ten-li pearl Dike along the coast also sparkles. The brilliant lamp belt looms over the jade snail like a flood dragon.
