Vieste is a sustainable LED luminaire for urban lighting coming from the desire to respect the principles of circular economy by solving the corrosion problem to which outdoor luminaires are exposed.

The challenge was to find a material more resistant to bad weather than aluminum, but green at the same time. This led to the combination of cold recycled polymers and virgin polyethylene, which make the lighting body highly durable and immune to:

-Corrosion by atmospheric agents and pollutants, with no flaking or material degradation over time

-UV rays. The body is made of a particular blend formulated with suitable anti-UV additives, making it resistant to ageing and discoloration over time.

-Impacts: highest protection degree against external mechanical impacts (IK10) with mechanical properties remaining unchanged from -76 °F to +176 °F (-60°C to +80°C). No need for impacting painting.

This particular model of Vieste luminaire is made from plastic bottle caps, namely polymers from urban waste. Hence its multicolor effect. The luminaire is thus circular and sustainable because:

-Compared to die-cast aluminum manufacturing, the recovered material allows reducing the related environmental impact.

-Luminaire comes from the reuse of plastic materials, lasts over 50 years, and it can be infinitely recycled at the end of its service life. The recycling rate is 99, 39%, with an easily upgradable and replaceable light source.

-The 100% on site supply chain reduces the CO2 emissions related to transport.

-Manufacturing process emits no harmful gases.

The Vieste sustainable luminaire does not leave in the background design and quality of lighting performance. In fact, a flexible and low-impact manufacturing process is used, i.e. rotational molding, which makes it possible to produce single-piece objects with complicated outlines, with no welding lines or joints. In this way, architects and lighting designers can design highly creative luminaires, which are produced in a short time within 90 days from delivery of the drawings.

Moreover, unlike the aluminum, the polymeric material does not shield radio signals. Therefore, remote-control devices can be positioned inside the body while keeping unchanged the aesthetics of the luminaire.
