CELLIST ON THE LOFT
--A Resonance Box for Living In

The owner of this project is a cellist/pianist. In her home in Zhubei city, North of Taiwan, she teaches the cello and piano as well as organizes concerto, and holds musical performance and rehearsals for her students and their parents.

Regarding such consideration, Home and Work, must be integrated into one, a living space where she can enjoy her beloved work and also, please the audience. The designer inscribes the unique and mixed functions not only to deliver the warmth of the living space at home, but also to showcase the stage ambience when performing. The two must be combined and merged without seamlessly. The atmosphere of the space, in addition to allowing the owner to enjoy the daily live, smoothly project her personal characters in her work space. The design purpose is to allow the space to speak for the owner, in order to highlight her outstanding and extraordinary talent in musicality and profession.

Space, like music, is fluid, rhythmic, continuous, and dramatic. By means of minimal partition, mobile compartments or sliding panels, the flow, diversity and continuity among spaces are presented intentionally. White paint and oak finish as a background build up the warmth for space and humanity. In light of expression of the stage, we can deliver the feel of the performance and create eye-catching spots for audience.

By the above approaches, the owner can deliver different aspects in terms of her personality and profession. The result of the work humbly stands out from the traditional home style in Taiwan.
