2023 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival Main Lantern Design

With enriching biodiversity, Central Park is also known as the lung of Taichung. On top of the 110-meter-long retention pond, a 10-meter-high sphere was installed as the dynamic main lantern for projection. It was surrounded by lanterns that resembled landmarks in Taichung. It combined traditional lantern techniques and modern LED light design to demonstrate how the city coexisted with the ecosystem.

The main lantern included mixed media. The structure was produced with lantern techniques, and it was assembled with laser cutting technologies to illustrate jumping and dynamic actions. It innovated and differentiated from traditional lanterns, and offered a groundbreaking experience in lantern festivals.

During the shows, landscapes and scenes were projected on the sphere that represented the earth. The 6-meter-long main rabbit lantern emerged from the sphere. It raised the head and leaped along with music. Melodies built up adventurous and exciting moments and emotions, and the rabbit lantern led viewers and leaped to happiness in Taichung.
