THE BOX

THE BOX is a four-unit townhouse with green surroundings that give a sense of the pure and white houses. The design of second-floor bridge, which connecting the living room and the study room, decorates the vertical space that reshapes the space atmosphere and frames the outdoor scenery through the angles of each staircase, making the scene of the outside environment like a natural painting hanging on the wall. To solve the west-facing problem due to its geographical location, we use a double-layered wall on the west side as a countermeasure. The double-layered wall is another layer of wall outside the original wall, which reduces the intensity of the west-facing sunlight and creates air circulation in the middle. In regarding to the indoor physical ventilation problem, the ventilation and cooling technology of the ancient windcatcher are utilized to create the design of the courtyard with the temperature difference between the roof and the bottom that makes chimney effects inside. Therefore, this design allows the airflow of the vertical circulation line flow between each floor and achieves indoor physical ventilation.
