The set of buildings subject to intervention has the particularity of establishing the interconnection, as a built continuum, between two streets, crossing the interior of the block. The operation covered two pre-existing buildings: the narrow building in Ivens street, without any architectural value, where once there was a small cinema; and the building in Aranhas street with two façades that it was important to value and maintain.

The project bet on the construction of a building of 4 floors in Ivens Street, in order to promote the transition of different tops of the neighbouring buildings and the maintenance of the preexistence of the Aranhas Street. The interconnection between the two buildings was achieved through the commercial volume of 1 floor, which extends from the ground floor of Aranhas Street to the basement of Ivens Street, taking advantage of the difference in elevation between the two streets, and opens to the interior patio, taking advantage of its free space.

The program, which bet on the creation of 17 accommodation units and 3 commercial units, implied the careful study of the tourist flats, which were intended to be compatible with the prestigious area where they are located. Thus, all the interiors were studied in detail and their façades were made compatible with the corten steel cladding, which adds colour and dynamism to the narrow construction, which stands out from the street, due to its simple audacity. The elevations are composed of vertical sheets of corten steel that suffer rhythmic and punctual deformations to match the openings, creating two sculptural and sinuous façades, which are exteriorised in a bold manner.

And so, the tourist flat development, called Cine Park Residence, as a tribute to the roots of the place, emerges, with its urbanistic and architectural approach, to contribute to improving the quality of the living occupation and the urban fabric, surprising for its peculiar architectural language, which peeks dynamically into the street.
