Yichang Riverside Park

This is a landscape reconstruction project designed for Yichang Riverside Park in Hubei Province, China. The design team adopted a variety of design techniques to provide a riverside park with high participation for citizens, aiming at a balance between ecology and urban development.

The entrance of the park is integrated into the city, while the romantic river bank is once again open to the public. The overall planning of the project is based on the riverside road system with commuter road, greenway and river-viewing trail as the main body, which aims to realize the three-way connection, form 18.6 kilometers of continuous greenway along the river, and add rest areas and river-viewing seats to activate site functions.

Remove the middle layer arbors that do not grow well to open the sight field. Clean up the rambling bush to form multiple open spaces and large lawns. Add public leisure facilities to make it a multi-functional living room for rest and cooling.

At the same time, the design team retained the traces of the dock in the park, integrated the gantry crane with the memory of the site into the landscape design. Combined with the finless porpoise IP with the characteristics of urban cultural tourism, it realized the coexistence of the dock relic and the urban space through the industrial style and the method of scene operation, releasing the charm of the collision of old and new cultures.

Child-friendly is another theme of this reconstruction. Parent-child sand, non-power water facilities, special pumps for extreme sports, etc., are all adopted. With the most popular children space formed by interesting amusement equipment, it is passionate and dynamic.

After this reconstruction, Yichang Riverside Park opens up its previously closed-off environment, and its relationship with the Yangtze River has been rearranged, which finally successfully construct a modern, natural and diversified life scene.
