The Bird's Nest & Lily Porridge Gift Box from Miss. Jin, designed by Innmount, draws inspiration from the intangible cultural heritage of Tantou New Year Paintings in China.
New Year paintings are a traditional form of Chinese art often used as decorations to celebrate the arrival of the lunar New Year. Among the important figures depicted in these paintings, the door gods hold significant prominence. They serve to ward off evil and protect family harmony. In the packaging, the door gods are portrayed holding lilies and riding swallows, spreading the joy and blessings of the festive season. On the other side of the packaging, lilies gracefully entwine around the Chinese character for "zhou" (porridge), imitating the design of Chinese-style floral windows. Floral windows are commonly found in traditional Chinese garden art. The design of these windows often emphasizes curved and symmetrical shapes. This essence have been incorporated into the font design. Besides being visually appealing, it also serves to clearly indicate the product category.
The inner box also features five auspicious motifs, namely "Wealth and Fortune," "Joyful News," "Blooming Lilies," "Abundant Blessings," and "Peace and Happiness," which resonate with the main theme of Tantou's gift.
The use of delicate Song-style font design and the overall incorporation of Chinese red highlight the elegance and sophistication associated with femininity, while also accentuating the brand's cultural ambiance.
