Xi'an Lanke Qujiang Qixia Li

The project site is located within the Qixia Li area near the Qixia Gate in Tang Chang'an. The project adopts the geographical name of Tang Chang'an City - Qixia Li, a name with a historical and scholarly atmosphere. On the south side of the site is the City Wall Ruins Park, and on the west side is the City Wall Drainage Facilities Ruins Park. It can be said that the project is immersed in historical culture. On the north side is the Xi'an Botanical Garden.

The project blends the ancient with the modern, innovating while having historical and cultural roots. From the perspective of living space and materials, Qixia Li is completely modern and in line with the living habits of modern people. From the perspective of architectural culture and spatial logic, Qixia Li has also learned many characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture. The residences are located in the east, while the gardens, which are the ruins parks, are in the west, and the botanical garden is in the north. This layout is similar to the traditional Chinese official-style mansions, where several courtyards are set in the east, a western garden is set in the west, and a garden is set in the north. This can be found in the prototypes of ancient Chinese official-style mansions.

The roof is a very important part of traditional Chinese architecture. It not only solves the functional problems of limited space and protection from wind and rain, but also has spiritual and cultural connotations. The highest-level roof is the double-eaved hip and gable roof. We have used this roof form, with some modifications and simplifications, for our main building. The intermediate-level roofs include the hipped roof, which is used for our demon stration area, entrance gatehouse, and lobby roof. In addition, the side buildings use more freely designed roofs with two or four slopes, depending on the importance of the building.
