Zhenjiang Hodo Xi Jin Villa

Zhenjiang is located in the south of Jiangsu Province, China, at the only intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It prospered due to the development of shipping and has a rich cultural history of more than 3,000 years. It was also famous as the capital of Jiangsu Province during the Republic of China. The project is located in Runzhou District, Zhenjiang City. On one side of the site are the traditional historical block and Yushan Wharf ruins, and on the other side are the modern urban community and supporting facilities. Facing the collision of different eras and different architectural forms, the design team hopes to form a way to continue the memory of the old city by connecting and stitching the old city's texture, so as to create linkage and cultural integration in the entire area.

In terms of architectural form and layout, the project fully draws on the spatial relationship of "street-alley-lane-neighborhood " in the local Xijindu Ancient Street, and integrates the layout of the general plan into this relationship. The planning principle extracts three representative groups from the local residential groups in Dalongwang Lane: enclosed type, crossing type, and crossing type+enclosing type. Take the original street - Chaoanchi Lane as the main road, the land is divided into two parts: commerce and apartment-style hotels, drawing on the traditional texture to divide the groups, forming an architectural form with clear groups and rich street space, combined with Zhenjiang Common architectural forms – Qilou（arcade）, traditional building roofs in the form of sloping roofs, and detailed building facades, thus forming a rich spatial hierarchy of the building complex.
