Phantom of Lion Dance

This work abstracts the art of the Chinese Southern style lion dancing pile technique, uses Circle Packing algorithm to generate parametric form of the traditional technique, and integrates recycled steel with CNC lighting for art practice, paying tribute to the ingenuity and unity of the Southern style lion dancing technique, and realizes the new art exploration of traditional culture and CNC devices. The work can adjust the number and density of units according to the construction cost requirements, and adjust the unit specifications according to the implementation time. In the final implementation, a single lion is composed of 591 steel rings of different specifications, which are optimized into 15 specifications by algorithm. The radius of the largest ring is 172 mm, and the radius of the smallest is 30 mm. The work has been completed, received a lot of praise and has been covered by many media, including China Central Broadcasting Television.
