Phoenixes are revered as the king of bird in Eastern legends, which symbolize auspiciousness and artistic beauty. The character for “phoenix”, in Chinese calligraphy, is usually written in an elegant manner, bringing to mind an enchanting picture of phoenix gracefully dancing in the air. Drawing inspiration from above traditional culture, the designer has crafted this jewelry collection named Advent of the Phoenix.
It is said that peacocks are the incarnation of phoenixes. Therefore, Advent of the Phoenix takes the peacock feather as a key element, and adopts antique treasures as main materials. The collection consists of five jewelry pieces: a pair of earrings, a brooch, a necklace, a bracelet, and a ring. The earrings are a reinterpretation of antique tourmaline and jade, and are adorned with pearls (originated from Northeastern China) highly regarded by the court in Qing Dynasty, creating a classical, luxurious atmosphere. The main body of the brooch is a gilded phoenix of Qing Dynasty, with a large wild pearl hidden beneath the tail, which suggests inner beauty of phoenixes; a pearl (originated from Northeastern China) dangling from the beak will sways gently with the wearer’s movements, and it looks as if the phoenix hoped to share its treasure with the world. Designed based on minimalism and Chinese calligraphy, the necklace and the bracelet fully highlight elegance merely through pearls, rope-crafted phoenix tails, and filigree clasps.
The ring, a symbiosis of traditional rope craft technique and modern metal technology, subtly integrates Chinese traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetic taste. Such a ruggedly beautiful open ring resembles a vibrant phoenix, whereby wearer can deeply appreciate the elegance and strength of phoenixes.
