The project is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China with profound cultural characteristics. Under the circumstances, “culture” is destined to be a significant element in the design. The site occupies an area of 3800 square meters, aiming to create an ideal living model of contemporary humanity. The overall planning design contributes to exploring the value of “spirit of the famous Lingnan gardens”, “quality of craftsmanship” and “Garden-style life theater”. The design inspires from the theme of “hometown water · garden inside”, and introduces the cultural core of Lingnan images. It inherits the cultural context as the objective, lets the community inherit the city’s customs and values. It interprets the new life of traditional culture with modern methods, and creates a famous Lingnan garden that is exclusive to the Pearl River, becoming an urban cultural landscape that carries the cultural context and a container for collecting the symbols and spirits of urban culture.

The design connects four customized gardens with different themes based on the characteristics of the narrow and long space of the site, giving its unique story and clues according to the attributes of each garden space. Lingnan culture represents the collective memory and common values of the Cantonese. As a unique cultural feature, landscape architects reinterpret the “regional culture” in the design. For example, the design of Lingnan cultural elements such as flower tiles, flower pots, sculptures and terraced Cantonese opera theater with begonia patterns as a symbol enrich each customized garden. That is not just an expression of seeking culture. It is important to explore the deep emotions and interests of the people, make the space become the carrier of culture, make the art become the projection of emotions, visualize the hazy Lingnan culture, and achieve the essence of regional culture.
