Cloudy Water and Xiaoxiang - Shadow

Cloudy Water and Xiaoxiang-Shadow is a new seasonal colour developed by Xiaosen in collaboration with Polytechnic University of Milan. Inspired by the glazing colour of Jian Kiln's Tianmu Porcelain, also known as Black-Glazed Porcelain, which is a famous porcelain of the Song Dynasty in Fujian, it conveys the abstraction of the empty mountains and misty clouds, the majestic and unadorned aesthetics of the Song Dynasty through medium material of traditional Chinese ink.
The work is differentiated from the solid colours on the market by incorporating the elements of porcelain and ink from traditional culture, giving it a unique surface treatment, panel texture and craftsmanship. Its colour scheme is based on low-saturation natural grey tones, framing the natural spraying of ink in a flowing state on the surface. Meanwhile, it uses a hand-dripping spray painting technique to restore the delicate texture of Tianmu porcelain, like rabbit hair. It highlights the exquisite texture of Tianmu porcelain colour through the high-gloss and silver powder materials, outlining the visual appearance of the mountains and clouds and realising the harmony and unity of Tianmu porcelain colour and cultural aesthetics.
