Architectural Design Proposal for Boutique Homestays in Shan

Shangsi Village, nestled at the foot of the Qinling Mountains, presented the crucial challenge of integrating architecture with the site, both humbly and powerfully. Throughout the design process, we adhered to the following principles: preserving the original village structure, maintaining ecological balance, employing local materials, and repurposing stone from disassembled older buildings. Our approach to the existing structures revolved around three key strategies: removing those with subpar quality, restoring those with useful potential, and adding distinctive new constructions.
