Dreamer’s Rakuen

“Dreams feel real while we’re in them. It’s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.” --- Inception.



This project is a private clubhouse that draws inspiration from the film “Inception.” The design utilizes flowing arcs and curves, various textures and materials, and ambient lighting and shadows to produce a sensation that simulates entering a dream. The circular ripples on the ceiling resemble flying saucers and UFOs, crafting a sci-fi scene that’s reminiscent of outer space. However, at the same time, the use of vintage color tones and trumpet lamps evokes a feeling of entering a time tunnel. The conflicting elements, combined with a surreal approach, create an atmosphere oscillating between dreams and reality.



In response to the site’s elongated shape and elevation difference, the design integrates functionality with the concept of dreamscapes. Using curves and arcs, various materials, and different linear lights to connect dots into lines and lines into planes, with light serving as a medium, this design creates an immersive entertainment space that traverses dreams and reality.



From the ground floor to the basement, visitors will see a bar area on the left, a socializing lounge in the middle, and an audiovisual area on the right. To mitigate the sense of height difference imposed by the original architectural structure, different areas in the space are not separated by doors or partitions; instead, boundaries are defined by the curves and arcs on the ceiling, which also adds some elements of fun. Moreover, the space is enveloped by sound-absorbing and shock-absorbing materials, with materials like stone, fabric, and carpet being employed in the outermost layer of the audiovisual room to dampen the propagation of sound further. Finally, two automatic doors are installed to give the audiovisual area a more immersive and entertaining experience.
