Tracing the Gleam

Over sixty years is etched into the wooden beams and columns, imbuing rich and rustic quality to the space. The soft glow of daylight trickles in from the courtyard, illuminating the unadorned Terrazzo floor and weathered brick walls. Each trace and mark seems to narrate a profound history, as if time has been gathered and preserved, emanating the enduring elegance of days gone by.



In resonance with the spirit of "Gathering Beginnings," we carefully preserve the original elements of the building – the sloped roof, mezzanine, Terrazzo floor, and brick walls – all of which have weathered over sixty years. We artfully revitalize this aged residence through minimal renovation, integrating modern materials like ironworks and glasses. The clean linear features of contemporary elements stand in contrast to the weathered surroundings, while wood acts as a bridge between old and new, seamlessly blending the two. This meticulous fusion brings a fresh and distinctive new identity to the vintage house.



As the elongated layout project, acknowledging the limited natural light penetration at the central part of the building, we ingeniously introduced a light well. Drawing inspiration from the small glasshouse, we invite daylight and greenery indoors and ensure optimal airflow. It forms a refreshing first impression for visitors and naturally guides them through the long corridor to the pristine white meeting room at the rear, avoiding disturbance to colleagues working in the office area. Furthermore, recognizing the advanced age of the building, we strategically reinforced the upper mezzanine's beams and columns using metallic structures, complemented by a reeded glass corridor below for additional support, creating a secure and sturdy workspace.
