The Liuzhou Jinglan Masterplan and Landscape project creates a new typology for urban water-centric and nature-based developments. It leverages the site's distinct location and proximity to the city center, the recreational and water-based amenities, and the natural environment and context.

Our vision is to bring new mindfulness that health, recreation, and livability are fundamental to the development's design and urban framework in cultivating a Recreational Business District (RBD). Utilizing leisure activities, tourist-oriented facilities, and the conservation of historical and cultural artifacts promote a leisure spatial syntax and generate sustainable development.

By embracing the site's uniqueness, City, Natural, and Water are the three primary design connectors to organize the development structure. A new man-made lake was created as the development focal point in conjunction with an existing Karst formation to preserve and enhance the dynamics between Nature in the design. The first floor of the commercial villas along the lakeside will be used for retail along the street to activate the lake interface and make the commercial axis more continuous.

The landscape design takes its cue from the beauty of the natural environment. It enhances the development by creating three distinct themed areas: Jinglan Community Lakefront Zone, the Sports + Ecology Zone, and the Creative Innovation Zone. In addition, to embrace and promote the historic cultural landscape and tourism, the design considered the integration of historical artifacts in the public realm.

Liuzhou Jinglan represents an evolution of urban design and landscape master planning. By re-imagining, preserving, and enlivening, the master plan is emboldening a fresh perspective in developing RBDs, and the way landscape can energize the development of leisure and recreational activities, embrace Nature, and create a mindful, smart, and creative community.
