The design team focused on creating a multifunctional reading space that is both fun and efficiently utilized within limited space. Symbolizing the metaphysical world, the white lighting boxes on the ceiling are evenly distributed, providing ample reading light below. The light boxes in the air guide through winding mountain paths, ultimately merging with the "book mountain" at the load-bearing wall, symbolizing the unified realm after bravely climbing the peak of knowledge.
In terms of space design and material selection, the designers adhered to principles of eco-friendliness and low-cost construction, using New Zealand pine veneer and latex paint. Functionality and space were prioritized, aiming for a minimalist approach to create a pure and relaxed reading atmosphere.
The entrance features a three-tiered step design, catering to small-scale events such as speeches, sharing sessions, and film screenings while maximizing space utilization. "Pian Shan Bookshelves" incorporate various small reading spaces—seating, standing, or lying down—offering flexibility. The tabletop design is adaptable, allowing children to freely choose based on their preferences.
The corridor facades continue the indoor design elements, ensuring a unified design language. This not only facilitates children's access to books during leisure time but also enhances the overall reading atmosphere in the school.
